Benedict Family Insurance History

Images of Harold and Doug Benedict, Insurance Agents

Benedict Family Insurance was started in the 1940s by Clarence Benedict who began writing policies mainly for North Country Insurance. In addition to insurance, Clarence was co-owner and operator of Benedict Earl Farms on Lee Rd. in Turin. At the time of his death in 1984, the insurance company, along with his share of the farm, was passed to his son Harold Benedict.

Harold Benedict holds degrees in agriculture from Morrisville College and Cornell University. He has been co-owner of Benedict Earl Farms for 30 plus years while also operating the insurance company. In 2005 Benedict Family Insurance extended to the third generation of Benedicts when Harold welcomed his youngest son Doug to the company.

Harold and Doug are both well respected and active within their community. Harold is an active member of the town planning board in Turin. Doug serves as an EMT and Firefighter for the Turin Volunteer Fire Company in addition to driving school bus for South Lewis Central School. Benedict Family Insurance (formerly H&L Benedict Insurance) is still operated out of Harold's home in Turin, NY, and is very well respected in the community.

Known for their small town generosity, Benedict Family Insurance prides its self in giving professional and personal attention to their clients. Unlike other insurance companies, Benedict Family Insurance is located in their home and not a traditional office with strict business hours. We are available to you at almost any hour of the day, on weekends and even holidays in cases of emergency.
